Statement of Financial Independence
The University of Washington Housestaff Association is a non-profit organization that was rejuvenated in the winter of 2000 by a group of residents eager to promote discussion of issues important to residency life among their fellow residents. The original Housestaff Association was formed in the 1960's, but it had recently entered a state of hibernation; there were no officers, no meetings, and no dialogue. Fortunately, the dues and donations of past members were not hibernating, but instead growing in mutual funds and bank accounts. Those funds allowed the development of this web page. The rejuvenated Housestaff Association will continue to accept donations to fund the ongoing expenses associated with web-page maintenance and other Association functions, including the UHWA yearly grant. We are managed on a purely voluntary basis by residents and fellows without faculty appointments.
